Airways & IFR for our maiden ‘Aero Abroad’ voyage!
In the spirit of adventure and to celebrate GMEGS new DME we would like to invite Pilots considering the CBIR course to join us on an Airways adventure to Weston(EIWT), Dublin in early May!
In the mix with commercial traffic!
This flight is an opportunity to see first hand how an airways flight is planned, conducted, and accomplished!
Our destination has been carefully selected by Ed, as it merits a number of advantages in its location for lunch and tourist activities.
The total distance of the route is 269nm, which is just 6% greater than the great circle distance! Estimated flight time is 2:40 each way in still air.
As with all Aero Club away-days we aim for one ‘Student’ pilot to fly outbound, the other return & hope to plan a date in early May – if you are interested please let us know!
This trip is only available to those seriously considering the CBIR, and should already hold the IMC/IR(R).
A reminder, the CBIR course leads to a full IR rating which
~ is recognized throughout Europe, unlike the IR(R)
~ allows access to airways and all classes of airspace.
~ permits approaches to a minimum cloud base of 200ft & 800m visibility.
The CBIR can be completed in as little as 10 hours of formal ATO flight training for pilots that do hold an IMC/IR(R) and have experience of IFR in their logbooks. For those that don’t the full course is 40 hours in duration. This trip would count towards that IFR experience.
