It’s our 90th birthday!

As you may already be aware, it’s our 90th birthday this year (we know, we know, we don’t look a day over 80!) 😉

Over the years we have trained thousands of pilots from all walks of life, not least the 22,000 RAF, Navy and Army recruits of WWII such as fighter ace Johnnie Johnson. Check out our history page for more on this.

We have become a centre for excellence in pilot training thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our pilots and instructors and our extended family on the ground.

We will be celebrating in style this year and have exciting things planned..So watch this space.

But we need your help to make this happen! What we’re after is any relevant:

-Historic photographs, film
-Your memories, stories

Do you have an interesting background with Marshall of Cambridge and the Aero Club? If so would you like to contribute as a guest speaker perhaps?

Please do get in touch –we would love to hear from you!

Huge Congratulations to former Marshall ADG airframe and propulsion engineering apprentice & Cambridge Aero Club student(!) Haydn Jakes MBE!! 🇬🇧

At only 24 Haydn has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List (Happy Birthday Liz!) for his achievements at the WorldSkills Competition in Russia last year.

We had to dig out this 17 year old First Solo pic with trusty HERC (Sorry Haydn! 😉)

We have no doubt you are going on to do great things Haydn - From all of us here at Cambridge Aero Club CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎊 🎉 👑

Instrument training & the IR(R) this season

Are you planning on refreshing your flying skills this season?

The Cambridge Aero Club team of Instrument rated instructors are ready and waiting to guide you down the ILS to success!

The autumn and winter weather often brings poor visibility and layers of stratus and strato-cu cloud with good visibility on top, these are just the conditions in which an instrument qualification helps to keep you flying safely.

Cambridge Aero Club aircraft are ideally equipped for instrument training and our airport is ideal – with good lighting and excellent instrument approaches & ATC support, along with our team of dedicated Instructors and examiners that help to make flying “under the hood” a doddle!

Along with training pilots for the intital IR(R), (previously the IMC rating), and supporting through the groundschool element of the course, we are pleased to offer bespoke recurrency training for the renewal or revalidation of the full IR, and our newest course on offer, the CBIR – please ask a member of the team for details and a personal assessment to assist with scheduling and an action plan.

Our instrument training rates are inclusive of all ILS/NDB & GPS approaches here at Cambridge, when using our C172 fleet.

Both Ed and Alan have excellent availability throughout January and February.

For more information regarding all of our training courses can be found on our website, or by calling us on 01223 373717 or emailing us @ reception@cambridgeaeroclub.com
