Formally used as an advanced trainer and light ground attack aircraft by many of the world’s air forces.
Harvard IV GBGPB or ‘Taz’ as she is affectionately known was built by the Canadian Car Foundry in 1953 and saw service with the USAF in Europe before being operated by West German and latterly Portugese Air Forces.
When you arrive
Your Harvard experience starts the moment you step through the door! With our modern facilities and tremendous view of the airfield from our outdoor seating area – bring along the family to watch you take off!
Cup of tea in hand, you will then have a pre flight briefing with your instructor.
After which you’ll get ‘suited and booted’ in your flying suit ready to set off.
There will be a chance also for photographs with our Harvard T6, ‘Taz’ as it’s fondly known.
All that remains now is to take to the skies in this mighty warbird!
In the air
Your Harvard experience will see you fly over some prominent aerial landmarks such as Cambridge’s historic university, fascinating disused military airfields, Waterbeach, Wyton and Alconbury. There is also the possibility of flying over active American airbase, Mildenhall (what could be more fitting for this mighty north American warbird!?)
During the flight you will be given control by your instructor to try out your warbird piloting skills. Marvel at the views from this classic cockpit and see what has made this aircraft a firm favourite amongst pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike!
What’s more, weather permitting, there may even be the chance of a cheeky loop and a roll!
