What to Expect?

How to Book

Once you have purchased your chosen Flight Experience via our website, you will receive a conformation email with a Ticket Number on. This email serves as your Flight Experience voucher and is valid for 12 months.
Buying for someone else? If the voucher is a gift then just let us know their name when purchasing and we will post you a physical Flight Experience Voucher that you can present them (please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery)
Last minute Gift? Then give us a call, we can email you a downloadable Gift Voucher to print at home or you can collect a Physical Voucher the same day from Cambridge Aero Club.
When you are ready to book your flight just give us a call!

Pre-Flight Briefing

Upon arrival you will welcomed by our reception team in the Gerneral Aviation Centre Clubhouse. Light snack and drinks are available to purchase along with a large array of Pilot gifts and goodies. Guests can enjoy views of the airport and runway.
You will fill in a quick form before meeting with your Pilot or Instructor for an exciting and informative pre-flight briefing.
If you have chosen an Introductory Flight you will learn about the aircraft, safety factors and the route to be flown. If you have chosen a Trial Lesson then you will also learn the basic flight controls and maneuvers that you will get to try, and also have the opportunity to discuss a route with your instructor, should you wish to fly over a particular area of Cambridgeshire.

Take Off

After getting kitted out with a hi-viz jacket and an Aviation Headset, you will head to the aircraft where your instructor will get you settled in. Engine start, flight control and engine run-up checks completed, it's time to take off!
'Introductory Flights will get to sit back, relax and enjoy the amazing feeling of flight. You will experience the most amazing sights and sounds, listening in to Air Traffic Control as you soar above beautiful Cambridgeshire scenery.
With a Trial Lesson, your instructor will get you hands-on with the controls very quickly, banking left and right, pitching up and down!

Cleared to Land

After touching back down at Cambridge Airport you will have more time to chat with your Pilot or Instructor about your experience, they are always happy to answer any questions you have about aviation and learning to fly!

You will also receive a Flight Certificate as proof of your first Flying Lesson which counts towards any future training should you catch the bug and want to become a Pilot!
Or if you enjoyed an Introductory Flight then you will receive a Commemorative Certificate of your Aerial Tour and Introductory Flight, this cannot be logged as training but serves as a great confidence boost towards booking your first Flying Lesson!

Our reception staff will also be on hand should you wish to chat, pick up a PPL information pack or book more flights!

How long is the Gift Voucher valid for?

All gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase
How long does the Flight last?

This depends on the Flight time selected when purchasing. If you purchased or where gifted a 40 minute voucher, then please allow at least an hour and a half hours for the whole experience, as you will have a pre-flight safety briefing before you take to the skies. Once settled in the aircraft, your 40 minutes won't start until the aircraft begins to move. You will likely be airborne for about 35 minutes. After the flight you will have further opportunity to ask your Pilot questions and de-brief from your experience.
Can I take pictures and video during the Flight?

Absolutely! You will have plenty of opportunities to take pictures and videos of your experience!
What if I get the flying bug?

Your flight experience will count towards your final logged hours when you apply for your Private Pilots Licence (PPL). So this is essentially your first lesson! After your flight, speak to a member of our team about becoming a full Aero Club member and we will talk you through the next steps.
